Digital safety

Trust,
after verification.

Practical steps to protect your money and information on your phone and online.

Pause. Check. Protect.

01

Pause.

A demand to move money immediately may be fraudulent. Take time to verify.

02

Check the source.

Do not rely on the number or link in a suspicious message. Use an independently verified contact.

03

Protect your device.

Do not install remote-control software at an unexpected caller’s request. Sign out on shared devices.

04

Act if something happened.

If you shared a secret or money, promptly contact the provider through a verified channel. Keep the time, messages and evidence of what happened.

“Your account will be closed! Send your PIN now so we can secure it.”
See the warning signs

It creates urgency, threatens a consequence and asks for a secret. Do not reply with your PIN; verify with the trusted provider.

Prepare your question

Phone lost or stolen?

Promptly notify the providers of services used on that phone.

  1. Notify your provider

Use a verified contact. Ask your mobile operator and financial provider to secure the affected services.

  2. Keep an incident note

Note when you noticed the loss, who you contacted and any case reference.

  3. Check the response

Confirm what was secured. Report any unfamiliar transaction on your account record.
